Hi guys,

Any cleaning experts out there? I need help!

I was pruning a rubber tree yesterday and the white sap dripped onto my polyester jacket and my jeans.

I threw them both in the wash but the tree sap did not budge.

Has anyone got any cleaning tips for rubber tree sap?

Cheers, Glen
This article suggests using hand sanitizer:

And this article suggests using wd40:

Ok well the hand santizer thing did not work! And I was not game to try wd40. Wouldn't that stain clothes?

Good old turps seems to have done the trick. Now I have to was the smell of turps out of my clothes!!

I was going to suggest Napisan but didn't want to recommend something that could possibly ruin your clothes even more once mixed with tree sap, works pretty well on regular stains.
i also tried some prewash stain remover but that didn't seem to do anything <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> i must remember to wear some old clothes next time i prune a rubber tree!

I've done the same a couple of time pruning at my parents home ...just been fortunate enough that the sap type didn't stain.

Pruning a really built up area is eekie 'cause of all the creepy crawlies.
I was mainly cutting the tree to stop the possums getting on the roof. The little guys have been causing some trouble lately!! But unfortunately the tree is so big they can still use it to access the roof (despite my pruning) as i could not reach all the high up branches.
Hammer in one of those stiff plastic collars:

Thanks iblis. That is a good idea!
got it wet, then frozen it in the fridge for about 1 hour, then you can easily remove it by rubbed it. good luck.

I am wandering if there is rubber tree in australia, I need some for my experiment. can you please give me some clue?

It seems the ###### bands are sized differently from the rest of the doctor reprimand! on the gunmetal i ordered, the dark-skinned bands hale okay, but the rest of the tell off went on too easily.
