Hi guys, I was just curious when the shortest day of the year will be.

Well it looks like it just happened about 1 week ago on 21 June 2010

Hooray! This is cause to celebrate as the light returns!!!

Cheers, Glen
I don't know about the shortest but today sure seemed like the coldest.
For me the winter solstice is like the beginning of summer! Only it will be freezing for a couple more months!

Hooray ....more light! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I'd rather have more warmth any day, Glen. :-)
Well you can't have everything! So i will settle for more light ....cup half full u see!!! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/kosa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/kosa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/kosa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':kosa:' />

You've obviously got full control of the central heating in your home─I've got limited access here. :-)
Nah I am freezing at home too. Our place has a ZERO energy rating i reckon!

Though we do have a gas heater in the wall of the living area which is not too bad. I think the gas bill will be pretty big this year!!!
my gas bill will be massive this month - i accidentally left a frying pan (empty) over a large gas flame unattended for like 4 hours!! (oops) early onset senility perhaps?

Besides the fact that you left an empty frying pan over a gas flame, t-pot, that's really not a big deal ...i cook a soup that takes a few hours on a low flame and there are dishes that require prolonged simmering, although; large flames are probably not as common for extended cooking. :-)
That is like using the stove as a heater! Don't worry too much <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I bet it was nice and warm at home!!!
hahah, yea it was warm!
